For my first ever college tour I visited Augusta University! This has been a tour I have been looking forward to because of their lovely campus and accelerated medical/dental programs. This university has great opportunities as well as connect medical and dental colleges for graduate students.

Entrance

The event started out at their main campus known as 'Summerville'. Many tables were set up along the long hallways and conference rooms which explained the college's diverse programs and even study abroad trips for specific majors that last from 1-2 weeks. From Japan to Costa Rica, the possibilities were enormous. At the math and science table I met students apart of the acclerated programs and talked about their experiences with applyling to dental amd medical schools. However, they were limited to the schools that only Augusta offered. Our first meeting introduced the school with welcoming and thriving school spirit. This included a questionnaire where the audience asked questions to current students. I discovered that two of the students went to the same high school as me, even though they didn't attend the STEM program!

Tour

Although the hurricane made it difficult to travel across the school, the students and staff were very accommodating by hosting meetings and some of the tours inside of the buildings. For example, the staff set up a dorm information presentation that was orginally going to take place outside. The tours were extensive and well planned. My personal favorite was the dorm tour. The freshmen dorms have community kitchens and eating areas which the tour guide explained it as "a perfect place for a pizza party after finals". The libarays hosts peer tutor and study sessions as well as displays a vast collection of well reowned books. Overall the main and science campuses were beautiful and I truly enjoyed touring them.

Closing

After becoming drenced in the rain it was finally time to depart from Augusta University. The students and staff were so welcoming and hospitable, the community is honestly inviting. Applying to this college will definitely be a momentous decision and I can't wait to explore my options further. Thank you Augusta University!
